Are any of your books fully
decodable?
Do any of your books have
Accelerated Reader quizzes?
Yes, all Rocket Phonics books are fully
decodable. Comet Street Kids, Galaxy,
and 24 Astro books are highly decodable,
with a few above-level words included for
enrichment. These words are listed on the
inside front cover. All books follow the Letters
and Sounds phonics progression (except for
First Steps for nursery-age children as this
follows speech-development order).
Yes, all Comet Street Kids books are levelled
and quizzed for Accelerated Reader. Many
Cosmos books are also included, with more
titles to be added. Levelling and quizzing
are done by Renaissance Learning, not
Hachette Learning. For more details, contact
your local consultant.
How are Reading Planet books
levelled?
Yes, all books are available in packs, with
various options to suit your needs. You can
purchase Band Packs for speci昀椀c colour
bands or buy a whole strand. Each pack
includes one copy of each book, and if
you need multiple copies, you can order
individual books in multiples of 6 or more.
Your local consultant can assist with orders.
Reading Planet books are levelled by
literacy and phonics experts based on
book banding criteria and age-related
expectations. The series follows a consistent
progression, providing practice in all
necessary skills to help children become
昀氀uent, con昀椀dent readers by age 11.
Can I use books from other
schemes with Reading Planet?
Yes, you can use books from other schemes
with Reading Planet. While it offers more
than 800 books, we understand that some
schools use a variety of reading resources.
Reading Planet can of course also be used
to supplement other reading programmes.
What is your book banding
based on?
Reading Planet books are colour-levelled
based on widely accepted book banding
guidelines. As children progress through
the bands, texts become longer and more
complex in vocabulary, language, and
concepts. For example, at Pink A, each
spread has one simple sentence, while at
Red B, sentences may span across two lines.

has different needs and budgets. Your local
consultant can create a bespoke package

Yes, you can try Reading Planet books
before buying them with a free 30-day
trial to Reading Planet Online. This gives
you unlimited access to interactive eBooks
for different age ranges, from Lilac–White
(ages 3–7) to Stars–Supernova (ages 7–11).
